With the market's increasingly stringent regulations on air quality standards in cars, improving the car environment has become the focus of research and development for OEMs and component suppliers.

At the same time, lightweight design of automobiles has also become a trend. These development trends are creating a demand for sustainable and innovative materials in the automotive market.

The global head of the automotive industry of the Covestro polyurethane business department said: "Cars are becoming the third space connecting homes and offices, and a safe, healthy, and sound-proof interior environment is becoming more and more important. Covestro develops a variety of innovative polyurethane materials for the automotive industry to make the driving experience more comfortable and enjoyable. "

Interpreting the beauty of car health and tranquility

As an important automotive interior material, polyurethane can reduce the content of volatile organic compounds (VOC) and insulate noise. During the CIAIE, Covestro demonstrated a number of innovative polyurethane automotive interior and exterior applications, bringing a healthier and quieter driving experience.

The peculiar smell and VOC in the car are the main factors affecting the air quality in the car, and the sources are very complicated. Therefore, how to reduce odor and VOC emissions has become one of the major challenges facing OEMs.

Covestro's Bayfill® polyurethane semi-rigid filled foam for dashboard applications has low VOC content and low odor performance. At the same time, the foam also has high fluidity and shorter demolding time, which can significantly improve production efficiency.

Covestro's Baynat® polyurethane rigid foam used in car roofs can reduce the VOC concentration and odor in the car, while also having noise absorption, high load-bearing and anti-breaking properties.

Covestro also launched two innovative noise and vibration (NVH) solutions to bring a quiet and comfortable experience to drivers and passengers. Among them, the filling material of the polyurethane structure reduces the noise and vibration of the void by injecting Bayfit® SA sound-absorbing material into the cavity, thereby reducing the noise in the car. Covestro’s engine cover focuses on absorbing engine noise and has a high-quality appearance. At the same time, it can improve production efficiency by reducing processing steps.
